What is the total capacity? Seated/Standing? Upstairs/Downstairs?

Our total allowed capacity is 625 – 450 downstairs and 175 upstairs

LOUNGE AND BALLROOM:

Seated (ceremony / presentation / auction-style) – 200 in each room (with sides and an aisle).

Seated (reception) – We have seated 90 in each room using 9 10-tops (round). We have seated 120 in each room using long banquet tables.

When used in combination, we can seat up to 300 for a formal ceremony, 160 on rounds, or 200 on banquet style tables using both rooms.

What does each space include?

The Rooftop Deck includes 3 areas: a fully-enclosed second bar, a covered area with a fireplace, heat lamps & lounge area, and a fully-exposed outdoor deck area furnished with outdoor patio furniture. All have a fantastic view of the city.

The Ballroom includes the catering kitchen, bar service window & area, and a restroom.

The Lounge includes the A/V System with a 20-foot projection screen, projector, a restroom, and a VIP / green room / bridal suite.

The Gallery & The Mirror Room are raw open spaces with original wood floors

The Parlor provides entry via 1st Avenue, a large built-in bar, two single-stall restrooms, and light seating.

Do the Ballroom & Lounge open up into one larger space?

In February 2020 we renovated the Ballroom & Lounge to have a removable wall between the 2 rooms. When closed it is comprised of twelve 4-foot wood panels that look a lot stylistically like the barn doors that used to be in place. To combine the rooms, these panels slide along a rail they hang from and “accordion” neatly near the Ballroom bar. This creates a completely open area as if it were one great room. Please note: there are still 2 load-bearing posts spaced evenly across the expanse which cannot be moved. Check out our photos page for this new feature!

Is WithinSodo ADA accessible?

The full ground level is ADA accessible, but stairs are currently the only way to access the Rooftop Deck.

the Concept

The execution of a “flex space” required careful consideration to conform to as many different concepts as possible. The addition of kitchen and bar facilities as well as a rooftop deck brings an entirely new level of versatility and something unique to the Sodo neighborhood.

When WithinSodo was conceived, the Sodo building had existed as a metal shop, an industrial equipment sales location, and a warehouse for furniture storage. The bones were strong, the space open, and the character authentic. Highlighting the natural materials and creating a “function through form” design was the goal. We wanted to build a space that could adapt to and house a wide variety of events, from an hour-long photoshoot to a day-long corporate retreat and everything in between.

The finished space consists of four dividable rooms of 900-1400 square feet each, a 3000 square foot roof deck, five bathrooms, a caterer’s kitchen, three built-in bars (or optional satellite bar), a 20' projection screen, and audio ran throughout. With a total capacity of 625 (450 downstairs and 175 upstairs), WithinSodo caters to almost any type of event you can imagine.
